- The “Rule 20” Referral: Under Cook County Local Rule 20.02 (and similar rules in places like DuPage or Lake counties), judges can send parties to mediation. This clears up the court schedule and saves everyone a lot of money on expert witnesses.
2. Commercial & Business Disputes
For businesses in Illinois, fighting in public court can hurt your name. Mediation gives a private way out for:
